Dr. Alicia Moreno

Executive Director

Alicia Moreno has spent over two decades at the intersection of education, culture, and the arts. Holding a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from Columbia University, she has dedicated her career to exploring how music shapes identity and fosters community. Before joining MOMENT, she served as the Director of Cultural Partnerships for the New York Arts Council, where she led initiatives that expanded access to music education across public schools. At MOMENT, Alicia leads with empathy and vision, ensuring that every project reflects both the rich history and the living creativity of New York City’s soundscape. Her leadership philosophy centers on inclusion, collaboration, and lifelong learning — values that continue to inspire the entire MOMENT community.

Marcus Green

Director of Education and Learning Programs

Marcus Green is a lifelong educator, musician, and advocate for creative learning. A graduate of NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education, Marcus has spent the last 15 years designing music programs that empower children to explore their artistic voices. Before joining MOMENT, he worked with numerous youth centers and after-school programs, blending musical theory with experiential, hands-on learning. At MOMENT, Marcus develops curriculum and workshops that introduce students to everything from classical harmony to digital music production. His philosophy is rooted in accessibility and curiosity — he believes that every child has a rhythm waiting to be discovered. His passion for teaching, combined with his background as a jazz pianist, makes him a cornerstone of MOMENT’s educational impact.

Sophie Lin

Curator of Exhibits and Archives

Sophie Lin combines her deep knowledge of music history with a modern approach to storytelling. With a Master’s in Museum Studies and a lifelong love for performance, she brings both academic rigor and artistic flair to every exhibit. Before joining MOMENT, she worked at the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, where she curated projects that explored the evolution of American music. At MOMENT, Sophie’s work ensures that each display not only informs but also inspires — blending artifacts, soundscapes, and digital media to immerse visitors in New York’s musical heritage. Her attention to detail and commitment to representation help bring untold stories to light, ensuring that every voice has a place in the city’s musical narrative.

Community & Engagement

Connecting Families, Artists, and Neighborhoods Through Music

At the Museum of Music & Entertainment in New York City, community is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that music is a bridge — connecting families, artists, educators, and neighborhoods. Our programs are designed not only to educate but also to foster meaningful connections between visitors and the cultural pulse of New York City. By engaging families in participatory learning experiences, we help children and adults explore music together, strengthening bonds and creating memories that extend beyond the museum walls. Our approach emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring that all families, regardless of background or experience, feel welcomed and valued.
